FAQ
Why are there two different editions?
When I began writing the book I was writing it to be published in Hungary. Along the way I found an American publisher. Because the book is being published by two different publishers, the US and Hungarian versions are pretty different.
How are they different?
Food Wine Budapest is illustrated with gorgeous photographs by George Konkoly-Thege. Though Budapest has lots of great ethnic restaurants, it focuses on Hungarian restaurants since those are what will be the most unique for international tourists visiting the city. Listings are more selective, so short-term visitors will be sure that they choose the right places. The book itself is beautiful (almost too pretty to be a guidebook). It was designed by award-winning designer Louise Fili, and I love the thick paper that it is printed on. It is the first in the Little Bookrooms’s new Terroir Guides series.
The Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to Hungary is significantly longer, and contains drawings rather than photographs. It contains additional chapters on international restaurants, culinary sightseeing in Budapest, day trips, and visiting the wine country (including winery profiles and hotel and restaurant recommendations).
Which edition should I buy?
Food Wine Budapest will be available in America, Canada, and the UK. As of now, The Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to Hungary will only be available in Hungary.
What if the information listed in the books changes?
Don’t worry, I will be keeping a page of updates and additions for both books.
